Erysimum, Charity Series

Novelty Characteristics:
Early blooming; dwarf plants; strong branching; beautiful fragrance.
No vernalization required for blooming, loves cool conditions.
Excellent in combination with Fall Pansies.

Market Use:
Bedding, spring and fall sales, great for mixed containers.
Can handle frosts well, so excellent for very early spring or late fall.

Recommended Growing/Selling Form:
Packs to 6"/gallon pots - one pinch or multiple plants (3) for 6" or gallon containers.

Flower:
1/2" to 3/4" 4-petalled flowers, very showy and very fragrant

Colors Available:
Cream Yellow, Rose Red, Scarlet, Yellow

Germination Conditions:
emergence 3-7 days / 65-72 degF / cover seed

Growing:
Temp: 55-70 degF day / 40-55 degF night
EC: 1.5-3.0 mS/cm (pour thru method)
pH: 5.8-6.3

Garden:
Full sun, enjoys the cooler times of the year. Borders, beds, mixed containers.

Notes:
PGR treatments that have proved successful in our trials include:
a).5 to .75 ppm Bonzi drench applied directly to plug tray following seedling emergence.
b)50 ppm Bonzi spray applied 1 week after transplanting.
c)15 ppm Sumagic spray applied 1 week after transplanting
Daylength neutral with no vernalization requirements.
For 4” pots or jumbo packs consider sowing 2-3 seeds per cell in a 288. Transplant plugs un-thinned.
In general, the cooler Cheiranthus is grown, the more uniform and more compact the habit will be. Plants grown in early spring under cool conditions will require little to no PGR use. Those grown for fall sales will require some to maintain desirable habit

 
*Trial was completed in the springtime in costal California. Rates suggested as a starting point. Growers should adjust rates according to their own growing conditions.
