Canna Tropical Series

Novelty Characteristics:
Dwarf seed propogated variety, day-length neutral, well branched, flowers in 90 to 120 days depending on temperature

Market Use:
Gardens, borders, containers and pots, also well suited for shallow areas of water gardens

Recommended Growing/Selling Form:
6" pot (or larger)

Flower:
Single flowers, clustered in terminal spikes

Colors Available:
Red, Rose (AAS Winner), Salmon, White, Yellow

Germination Conditions:
emergence 8-12 days / 70-75°F / cover seed / soaking seed in water for 10-14 hours will help soften seed coat and improve germination

Growing:
Temp: 70-85°F day / 65°F night
EC: <0.75 mS/cm cotyledon expansion to true leaf growth (pour thru method); 0.75- 1.2 mS/cm plug finish (pour through method)
pH: 6.2 - 7.0

Garden:
Prune off spent flower stalks to encourage new blooms. Does best in warm, humid conditions, sunny location.

Notes:
Being from seed, Tropical is not prone to diseases often transmitted in rhizome propogation.

 
*Trial was completed in the springtime in costal California. Rates suggested as a starting point. Growers should adjust rates according to their own growing conditions.
